Learning the letters of the alphabet in kindergarten can seem like a very boring task for parents with their child(ren). Why learn that a letter is called Z? Is this really useful?
In my experience, learning the names of the letters is an important learning because it leads to other fundamental learning: reading and writing.
The Petits Progrès team has thought about a game board that would allow your child to recognize the letters in the 3 scripts , to learn the names of these letters but also to start reading thanks to the discovery of the sounds that form the letters of the alphabet .

The alphabet model in the 3 scripts (alone or with an adult for the first times)
In order to produce an active research work, let your child use the model provided on the last page. This alphabet pattern is a great help! This is a document that your child will have to decipher to understand how to read the alphabet and how to associate the letters in the 3 scripts.
When your child is comfortable with the association of the alphabet in capital letters with the script letters, you can start the association of the cursive letters (attached writing).
The Alphabet model in the 3 scripts
To complicate the task, you can ask your child to start this game again without the alphabet model in the 3 scripts . Attention ❗, if your child still needs it. Don’t discourage him by telling him he’s “cheating”. On the contrary, he seeks the tools to succeed . You can stick the template on a wall. In this way, your child will have to get up and look for the information by himself with a distance from his work. To be successful, he will have to proactively retain the information he was looking for.
Finally, when your child is very comfortable with this game. Do not hesitate to time it! Ask him to associate the letters in the 3 writings in less than 5 minutes. This time constraint amuses the children a lot.

When the images are all recognized by your child, he will have to associate each image with a letter according to the sound that this letter produces . For example: Vélo, you hear the sound “Vééé” like the letter V . Some letters are complex and require adult help or repetition, such as W or Y.
When your child is comfortable with this game, he can play alone with the picture labels to discover the sound of letters in kindergarten.
It can also look for other words that start with the sound of a particular letter . For example: “M, which word starts with “Meu…”? Children are treasures of ingenuity. They will find words that adults have not thought of such as “Mom, Tuesday, Wednesday, Sheep…”
